I think that the only two contenders for Best Actress that deserve recognition are clearly Emily Blunt and Emma Stone  (my favorite actress since La La Land), although I haven’t seen The Favourite yet.

Bohemian Rhapsody for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress!!

after seeing destroyer for a second time I’ve moved nicole’s performance up to no. 2 on my personal list this year, potentially challenging colman’s no. 1 spot, seeing it this time knowing the plot I got to pay more attention to her performance and the entire night I just could not shake her image off my head

I think the reason they put Emma in supporting is that she is the least likely to win out of all of them. Not because she doesn’t deserve it but she just won two years ago.

even with them all having a ton of screen time they are clearly trying to get two wins here – Olivia for Best Actress and Rachel Weisz for Supporting actress. if Olivia was in supporting there would be no way for Rachel to win. Olivia would go on a sweep at every award show.

as it stands right now for Best Actress I think the 4 that have been nominated for every award show, are definitely getting in…

    1) Glenn Close 2) Olivia Colman 3) Lady Gaga 4) Melissa McCarthy and i’m thinking Nicole Kidman gets in for Destroyer, the past couple days there have been quite a few entertainment sites writing about the performance bc it’s finally going wide in a lot of places.

I love how this thread is becoming a open chat since the race is already over. But it’s nice discussing possible upsets that won’t happen

    2 – Lady Gaga/ Glenn Close
    3 – Viola Davis
    4 – Emma Stone

I think she should definitely be nominated. She’s my favourite supporting performance of the year alongside Rachel Weisz. The birth scene is out of this world and so is the part where she pricks her foot on the nail. That scene is also amazing. The amount of emotion she showed was incredible. And she didn’t need to scream and yet you felt everything she was feeling in that moment. She completely killed it in that role. I would love for her to win at SAG. And the more i think about it the more i think it is actually happening. I’m also very keen to see Elizabeth Debicki in Widows. And i got a feeling that after i watch her performance she will be up there with Blunt and Weisz.

thank you. It was an amazing performance. I pray she wins SAG and goes all the way to the Oscar since she is shaky in the best actress group.

    Good morning to you

Poor Kidman. Annapurna really killed her chances.

I still understand their strategy… it worked out pretty well for Vice until now tho.

Unpopular opinion but I think Blunt isn’t getting enough credit for her work in MPR and AQP this year, especially in the bathtub scenes. Plenty have raved her in the latter tub but I’d like to explore the other bathroom scene…

While I think many have focused on her singing and Mary the nanny persona, this could be my favourite scene in the film as it’s the first time we witness the Mary beneath the stern demeanour. As soon as the children are underwater, beneath her spell as it were, she directly addresses the camera before taking the plunge herself. “Here we go!” she invites us in a quiet voice barely above a whisper, the girl beneath the motherly facade luring the audience into her fantastic world. A voice unrecognisable from what we’ve heard so far. It is a breaking the fourth wall scene of eccentric brilliance on Blunt and Marshall’s part. Emily is the undisputed Queen of the Bathtub this year.

“off we go”. I love the ceramic stuff scene… The way she says “everything is possible, even the impossible” was so good
